Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GlutenScanner App (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. The App is operated by Jesper, an independent developer. If you have any questions, contact us at jesper9898@gmail.com.

In short: we do not require an account, we do not track you, and we do not sell your data. Most of your information never leaves your device.

1. Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address (unless you voluntarily contact us — see section 5).
  • We do not collect your location.
  • We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking.
  • We do not record, store, or upload any photos or camera footage.
  • We never sell or rent your information to anyone.

2. Camera

The App uses your device camera only to read product barcodes in real time, directly on your device. Images from the camera are processed live to detect a barcode and are not saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere. You can deny or revoke camera access at any time in your device settings; you can still search for products manually without the camera.

3. Information stored on your device

The following is stored locally on your device and is not sent to us:

  • Recent scans and saved products— barcodes, product names, brands, ingredient information, and gluten status, so you can revisit them. This is kept in your device's local app storage.
  • Free-trial usage count— the number of free scans you have used and reminder timestamps. To prevent abuse of the free trial, this small counter is stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain) and may persist even if you delete and reinstall the App. It contains no personal information.
  • App preferences — for example, whether you have completed the introductory onboarding.

You can clear saved products and history inside the App, and deleting the App removes its local data.

4. Third-party services

To provide its core features, the App connects to the following third-party services. We only share the minimum information needed.

Open Food Facts

When you scan or search for a product, the barcode number or your search term is sent to the Open Food Facts public database to retrieve product information. No personal data is sent. See the Open Food Facts privacy policy.

Superwall

We use Superwall to display subscription offers and manage your subscription status. Superwall may process anonymous device and subscription identifiers. See the Superwall privacy policy.

Apple

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Feedback / contact

If you choose to send feedback through the App, the message, your email address, and the app version you provide are sent to our contact endpoint so we can respond to you. This information is used only to reply to your enquiry.

5. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require an account or collect personal data, it can be used without providing such information.

6. Your rights and choices

  • You can clear your scan history and saved products in the App.
  • You can revoke camera access in your device settings.
  • You can request information about, or deletion of, any data you sent us via feedback by emailing jesper9898@gmail.com.
  • Deleting the App removes its locally stored data from your device.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
